Irony

There are three types of irony: verbal, situational and dramatic.

1. Verbal Irony - says one thing but means the opposite. It is not to be confused with sarcasm because sarcasm is meant to insult or hurt feelings.

2. Situational Irony - the characters and audience are both unaware of what is about to happen, they expect something to happen but the opposite happens.

3. Dramatic Irony - the characters are unaware of the situation but the audience is aware.
